“The ultimate goal of yoga is to always observe things accurately, and therefore never act in a way that will make us regret our actions later.” ― T.K.V. Desikachar
-
Arrive for class on time, allowing enough time to sign in and set up your practice space. You will not be able to enter the building after class starts.
-
If you need to leave practice early, please let the teacher know before class begins, and remember to take a few moments in Savasana (final relaxation pose) before exiting class. Please do not leave during the final relaxation pose or seated meditation, this is extremely disruptive to everyone else who is being still and silent.
-
Please turn off all mobile phones in the yoga space, and try to speak softly before and after class. This will enable other students to have a peaceful class.
-
Make sure that your body, your clothes and your mat are clean and odor free. Please do not wear any perfume, cologne, after shave, essential oils, or scented antiperspirant, shampoos, or conditioners. Just like natural body odors, these artificial odors will be intensified by the heat of the practice. Some students who come to the studio are very sensitive to chemicals. Please help them. This includes all “natural” or “organic” scents as well.
-
Remove your shoes and socks before entering the yoga space.
-
Roll out your mat in line with the others in the room, and square to the room shape. This not only looks neater, it will help you and those around you stay balanced as you practice.
-
If someone else is looking for space for their mat, and you have some, please offer it. People are shy about asking. And if you must walk around during class, please do not step on other people’s mats.
-
Put all props you’ve taken off the shelves back neatly in their proper place after class.
-
If you have any medical conditions (including pregnancy) and/or injuries relevant to your Yoga practice, please let your teacher know. Take rest as needed in class. Yoga is neither a competition nor comparison, so follow the wisdom of your own body and mind.
-
If You suffer from an acute condition, whether physical, psychological or any other, please refrain from joining a regular group yoga class as it may have a triggering effect.
